The lake has a healthy fish population. While there are many small fish, several large trout have also been caught in recent years.

Back to basics.

Do you long for the good old days, with a close connection to nature, water, and fishing? In this beautifully modernized cabin, you can experience what it’s like to live the good life, immersed in nature.

A cozy, incredibly charming little cabin.

Inside, there is plenty of space, featuring a dining table, a bed (200 x 120 cm), and a small sofa bed (200 x 120 cm). It sleeps 3–4 people; however, it may be a bit tight for 4 adults.

There are 4 duvets and pillows in the cabin.

Convenient storage space is available under the bed.

The kitchenette is equipped with most essentials for cooking, including a gas burner and a small gas-powered refrigerator.

A solar panel provides electricity for lighting, and you can also charge mobile phones or tablets—just remember to bring your own USB cable. A wood-burning stove provides cozy, comfortable warmth; firewood is available for purchase at the cabin.

The cabin is approximately 12 m².

Gas for the refrigerator and cooking is included in the rental price, as is the use of a rowboat and a fishing permit.

Drinking water can be collected for free from a nearby water tap.

There is an outdoor composting toilet.

Outside the cabin, you’ll find a pleasant, sunny deck, as well as a fire pit area with a fire bowl and benches—perfect for late evenings.

The fire pit area is tucked away in a sheltered, private spot near the water. A small, wooded nook provides some cover without obstructing the stunning views of the river or the surrounding mountains.

You are also welcome to set up a hammock or pitch a tent, bringing you even closer to nature. If you bring a tent, the site can accommodate up to 5 people.

The location itself is called "Fossetangen." The upper section of the Mandal River (Mandalselva) flows right alongside the cabin—just a few meters away—making it easy to take a morning dip.

The cabin also comes with a small rowboat you are welcome to use; please bring your own life jacket.

Firewood can be purchased from the cabin owner.

The water in front of the cabin holds a good population of brook trout and brown trout.

While there are many small fish, you might catch a larger one if you’re lucky.

The largest fish ever caught by rod in Åseral—a brown trout weighing just over 5 kg—was actually caught in this water a few years ago.

It is a walk of about 20–30 meters from the parking area to the cabin. The cabin stands completely on its own, situated on a small rocky knoll overlooking the water and surrounding fields. In the height of summer, the evening sun shines until 9:30 PM.

The surrounding area is rich in wildlife; you may spot roe deer, Highland cattle, and a variety of birds—including eagles.

There are also excellent hiking opportunities in the area.

Dogs are welcome, but please observe local leash regulations.

The nearest shop, gas station, and EV charger are located in Åseral Kyrkjebygda.
